Early Fall on the South Shore

John, Mike and I enjoyed the early fall colors on the south shore of Lake Nipissing. It was perfect photography weather.

Dragon's Lair

I like the calm mood of this image enhanced by the dramatic leading lines. Taken on Georgian Bay, Ontario near Allenwood Beach.

Mike and I spent a great day experimenting with black and white images. This is a reiteration of an image of an approaching thunder storm taken in early September 2010 when the water level was approximately 3 feet low thus exposing these algae laden rocks.

Ready for take off

I took this shot on the Florida beach on an extremely blustery day. I like the sense of action in the out of focus wingtips yet with the sharpness in the heads.

I purposely reduced the contrast to enhance the abstract feel of the image.

Pillings

Mike, John and myself scouted the area south of Lake Nipissing yesterday. We were presented with a  perfect day.

I have always liked images of pillings and this is the first time I have had an opportunity to photograph them. I like the way that the pillings curve to lead the eye to the island.

Mike and I visited the old Mattawa Train station last week. Overcast sky and chilly weather. Mike's post focused on the whole Train Station  and I chose a small geometric composition

Spring melt

Spring Melt

The ice starts to melt suddenly on Lake Nipissing. Two days ago I was walking on this area. Thank goodness the water very shallow.

Spring runoff has started

In our neck of the woods Spring runoff has just begun. Given all of the snow and rain that we have had this winter I expect the runoff will be pretty heavy. Hopefully we will get some good shots.

Ice Hut

A fabulous sky made for an almost water colour sky. I think this image would be particularly suited to a canvas print.
